Happy Halloween Playlist

Happy Halloween Playlist
home sweet home

My letter will be making an illustrious return soon, but in the meantime, here are some spooky songs:

As noted in the description, this is just a catalogue of songs that freaked me out (for real or for fun) between July and today. I think it turned out real nice. I started making this playlist when I heard "Your Fork Moves" by Lebanon Hanover in the basement of a charity shop in Shoreditch at like 9am, which was spooky to me.

Some highlights are "Barrett's Privateers" by Stan Rogers, which chilled me while I was driving through the Nevada desert in a moment of real dissonance. "Organ Donor" by Jeremy Messersmith and "Dead Hearts" by Stars are nostalgic pulls for me, but I was excited and mildly unsettled to hear them again. Late-add "Tomboy Gold" by GOAT Neko Case is my favorite song of the year. Next Halloween, I'm going to rig one of my Halloween animatronics to say "where is my heart? / in the triangle / made by the highway / and the exit / and the overpass."

The rest are good too! This one is less existentially horrifying than my other playlists have been this year (HARO), but I think Halloween is a paradoxical relief from that vibe (the 2025 vibe). I tried to have more fun with it.
